Sunday, July 3rd - Two Die In Boating Accident On Boyd Lake... During a family picnic at Boyd Lake, Saturday afternoon, July 2, 2005, six family members were boating when it capsized.  It is speculated that high winds were the primary cause of the accident.   The gathering had 20 to 30 in attendance with family and guests from out of Colorado and out of the United States.

The 911 call was at approximately 5:45 P.M.  Response was by Colorado State Park Rangers, Thompson Valley Emergency Medical Services, Loveland Fire Department, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office and the Larimer County Victims Response Team. CPR was performed on three of the victims for over 30 minutes and all were transported to McKee Medical Center.  Two members of this family did not survive the tragedy and one is still in the intensive care unit at McKee hospital in Loveland.  The other three have been released.
