Moose with young calk in Kawuneeche Valley

Sunday, July 3rd - Photo Of The Week...

This week's photo was taken on Monday, June, 27th and features a Moose with her young calf. The photo was taken in the Kawuneeche Valley of Rocky Mountain National Park. Moose are year round inhabitants and less often seen. They are found in moist wetlands where they forage for food. While typically being a quiet, docile animal, Moose can be very aggressive and extreme care should be used should you encounter one in the wild. In 2004, a Moose was seen near the intersection of FDR 128 and CO 43, in Drake, and is one of several that have been seen in our area over the past couple of years.
