Friday, July 29th - Accident Causes Minor Delays In Canyon...

Travelers on Hwy 34 in the Big Thompson Canyon experienced minor delays this morning between 8AM and 10AM while rescue crews worked to remove a Jeep Cherokee from the river. The vehicle apparently lost control, rolling approximately 50 feet down a rocky embankment at mile marker 78, eventually coming to rest on it's roof in the middle of the Big Thompson River. The driver, who was reported to be resident of the Storm Mountain area, was taken to Estes Park Medical Center for examination and treatment of minor injuries.

"I have no idea how this happened." stated one of the rescue crew with the Loveland Rural Fire Department. "We see a lot of this and amazingly they usually walk away relatively uninjured."

No further information on the cause of this accident is available at this time.
