Saturday, September 3rd - Hurricane Relief Efforts at Larimer County...

The staff in the Larimer County Clerk & Recorder's office has expressed a need to make a difference.  The Clerk & Recorder Spirit Committee, on behalf of the Clerk & Recorder staff, is hosting a Bake/Book Sale in the lobby of the Larimer County Courthouse Offices (LCCO), 200 West Oak Street, Fort Collins, on Wednesday, September 7th, from 8:30 a.m. until all the baked goods are gone or end of the work day.  All proceeds will go to the victims of the Katrina disaster through the Red Cross and/or Humane Society.

“We're making this a countywide effort.  Baked goods and books for donation are being solicited from all county staff, and we expect a great spread,” said Angela Myers, Spirit Committee Liaison.

Baked goods will be sold for $0.50 each or $5 for a whole pie or cake.  Used hardback books will be sold for $2 each, and used soft-back books will be sold for $1 each.

There will also be donation cans at these two sale locations for anyone who wishes to simply make a cash donation.  In addition, the Clerk & Recorder’s office will have donation cans at all public counters on the first floor of the LCCO from Tuesday, September 6th, through noon on Monday, September 12th

The Clerk & Recorder staff will also be holding internal fundraisers within the department next week.  “This is an all out effort and will be our focus next week,” Angela said.  “It's a small world in which each of us can make a difference...one life touched is enough to make it all worth it.”

Please contact Angela Myers in the Clerk and Recorder’s Office, 498-7840, for further information.

Larimer County is also sponsoring a ‘jeans’ day on Wednesday, September 7th. County departments will collect $5 for anyone wishing to wear jeans, who doesn’t normally wear jeans for their work, and the donations will go to the Red Cross/Humane Society benefit fund.
