Observed Fire Conditions - September 18th

Monday, September 19th - Fire Danger Approaches Extreme...

Above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation have led to a steady increase in the area fire danger over the past week. Very high to extreme fire danger conditions are now being reported throughout Wyoming and northern Colorado, including Roosevelt and Arapaho National Forests.

Area residents are advised to use extreme caution with any open flame and to be prepared to take appropriate defensive action should a fire occur. Brush and debris should also be kept cleared from areas around homes and other structures, as is always a good thing to do. Creating defensible space, staying alert, and using care with open flame are the keys to fire safety and also to minimizing damage.

The extended forecast calls for more of the same type of weather for over next month, with above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation prevailing. Very high to extreme fire danger conditions could possibly continue for some time in our area.

No official fire bans or special burning restrictions are currently in effect for Larimer County.
