Wednesday, September 21st - Storm Mountain Fire Update...

The fire that was burning Tuesday evening on Storm Mountain is now all but out. Crews hit the fire with aerial drops of water and retardant Tuesday evening, while ground crews worked until dark on hot spots. The fire has laid down overnight with no smoke or other signs of the fire visible over the ridge behind Cedar Park and Cedar Springs subdivisions.

The fire is estimated to have burned five acres. Residents were evacuated within a five mile radius of the fire but were all allowed to return home last night. Crews are expected to be on scene today to continue checking for hotspots and a general mop-up of the scene.

A cold front is predicted to pass during the next day reducing temperatures and lowering the fire danger in our area, at least temporarily.

No information of the cause of the blaze has been released as of this posting, but is suspected to be of man-made origin as no lightning has been reported over the past day or two in that area.
