Drywall truck hangs precariously on edge of cliff along FDR 128

Saturday, November 5th - Saved By A Tree...

The driver of a large truck today has a tree to thank for his safety. Just before 6:00pm Friday evening the driver was returning from a drywall delivery when the wheels of the truck he was driving got too close to the edge of the road, while letting another vehicle pass, causing the shoulder to give way under the weight, and sending the rear end of the vehicle sliding into a 50 foot ravine.

Fortunately the cab of the truck hung on a large tree preventing the full slide downhill. The driver of the truck, which was from Magnum Materials Inc of Fort Collins, was reported to be uninjured.

The vehicle is still very precariously perched on the tree and could possibly still slide downward. Residents are advised to stay clear of the scene until the truck can be safely removed.

The accident occurred on FDR 128, approximately 1/2 mile up from "Combat Rock", in a narrow section of the road. Reports at 10:30am are that FDR 128 is currently closed as workers attempt to get the vehicle back on the road. Residents should expect moderate delays during this work.
