Wednesday, November 23rd - Parents Angry Over Bus Driver's Actions & Attitude...

Several parents are reported as currently discussing legal action against the Thompson School District over the actions and attitude of the elementary school bus driver for Drake.

The driver, whose name is currently being withheld pending further investigation, is reported to be very abusive and domineering towards the students while driving the to and from the Thompson Schools in Loveland. It has been reported that some parents are now driving their children out of concern for the children's safety.

While no confirmation has yet been made, it is also reported that as many as 30 complaints have been filed against this driver since September. The Thompson Transportation District is aware of the problems but as of yet have taken no action against the driver, leading to the possible lawsuit.

The bus for this route is equipped with a video camera intended for monitoring activity on the bus while transporting student. The driver is reported as turning the camera on and off at his discretion, and conveniently it is always off when an incident involving the driver occurs. One would have to question as to why the camera is not required to be running at all times, as in the event of a problem there would be clear evidence of what actually transpired.

The Thompson School Transportation Department has been contacted for an official response to the parent's concerns, which will be posted here, most likely after the holiday weekend.
