Public Hearing On Proposed Estes Park Fire Protection District Set... A
public hearing has been set for June 1st, at 3pm in the Larimer County
Commissioner's Office, to review the plans for the proposed Estes Park
Fire Protection District... The proposed plan would allow creation of a
new fire district covering some 90 square miles... With the Loveland
Rural Fire Protection on the Northeast, Glen Haven Fire District on
the north, RMNP on the West, and Big Elk, Pinewood Springs, and
Allenspark Districts of the South/Southeast areas currently in limbo would be covered, leading to a safer
community and potentially lower insurance premiums... Property exclusion requests
are available... For more information, or to volunteer to be a fire
board candidate, please call 970-577-0900...
May 13th, 2004 - Area
Rivers On The Rise... Recent rain and snow is combining with snow
pack melt-off to send the levels of the Big Thompson and North Fork upward... While not at flood stage, the water is flowing rapidly
and is to be considered very dangerous... Residents are advised to use
extreme caution around local waterways especially with children and
pets... Water levels are expected to continue their rise for the next
few weeks as snow in the high country continues to melt...

regular... At the current rate of increase, $3.00/gal is possible by the
