Tuesday, September 13th - School Bus Accident Closes Hwy 34 To Estes Park... Highway 34 is currently partially closed as emergency crews respond to an accident involving a school bus and a semi-trailer. The accident, which occurred at approximately 3:10pm, is reported to be near mile marker 69, in the Big Thompson Canyon. Reports are that the semi hit the school bus from the rear. The bus is reported as carrying a football team from the valley up to Estes Park, and not the bus for area children. There are reported to be up to 30 injuries, all being minor. Eastbound Highway 34 is closed from Mall Road in Estes Park and CO 43 in Drake. Westbound traffic is being permitted, but with delays. Area residents are advised to allow for extra travel time during the next couple of hours.
