Cool Front Brings Change To Local Weather...
A cool front passed through the area overnight bringing lower temperatures to
the region. Snow fell above 9000 feet but no major accumulations have been reported. Fall colors are still quite beautiful along rivers and streams at lower elevations. Highway 34 through the Big Thompson Canyon and CO43 along the North Fork are both good places to enjoy the lasting colors.
While our weather has remained quite pleasant it has been lacking in precipitation leading to increased fire danger throughout the region. Campers and hunters should use caution when using open flames such as campfires or grills.
The general outlook is for continued warmer, drier weather than normal with temperatures in the 60's and 70's. Another cold
front is expected to pass this weekend bringing with it a chance for rain or snow.
The number of visitors to Rocky Mountain National Park
is substantially less than in the summer months making this an ideal time for a visit. A short stroll from the road and you will feel the distance from civilization and can easily imagine times
of long ago. Wildlife is currently abundant particularly at sunrise and sunset. The majority of the Park's roads are open and clear of any snow and ice.
