Winter Storm Moves Into Colorado... A large winter storm system is currently moving into Colorado bringing with it wind and substantial snows. Watches and warnings are currently in effect for Rocky Mountain National Park and the mountains to the south and west. Snowfall amounts of up to 20 inches are expected in the mountains. High winds reaching over 50mph above timberline will create blowing and drifting snow. The immediate Drake/Storm Mountain area is currently not under any official watches or warning, but this may change as the storm moves closer. At 4:30pm the storm could be clearly seen moving onto the eastern slopes of the Continental Divide and approaching our area. Snow was falling with moderate winds. Residents are advised to stay tuned to local media and to be prepared for Winter Weather Warnings later tonight and tomorrow. All watches, warnings, and advisories for our immediate area will be posted on this site as they are issued. Road conditions and visibility are expected to deteriorate steadily as the storm moves over our area. Drivers should be prepared for snow-packed roads and possible white-out conditions throughout the area, particularly in open areas and if traveling to the west.
