Why Are We So Hated In Iraq??? Many Americans today seemed baffled at the Iraqi People's response to the United States' actions and efforts to bring change to their country. A quick look at the facts and considering how you would feel if it happened here, may provide some insight. While we see our occupation as bringing a better way of life to an enslaved people, the people in question see it very differently. Imagine for a moment the following scenario. China in watching things unfold in our country, their leaders perceive a threat against their way of life. They also feel that the American People are being unfairly treated by their government. A look at the known facts about America reveals the following:
Based on the evidence before them, and a far stronger factual basis than we had for invading Iraq, the Chinese decide to invade America with the purpose of removing the current corrupt government from power, liberating the American People from the tyranny of their rule, and at the same time eliminating the perceived growing threat to their way of life. So they invade America, bombing our cities and taking control of our Nation's Capital. For the next few years a war is waged on the streets of America between the current American leaders and their army, and the Chinese military occupation. The average American is caught in the middle of this war with lives being disrupted and destroyed daily. Homes being invaded and searched, family members being taken away to detention on suspicion alone, women and children dead in the streets. Now honestly, how would you feel towards the Chinese soldiers coming to deliver you to a better way of life and liberating you from what they perceived as tyrannical rule? I highly doubt that there would be one single American who supported the Chinese occupation, and that many would band together, forming an insurgency, in an effort to remove the foreign entities and restore order to their now war torn Nation. While rule under their leader was not the best, it would be seen by Americans to be far better than a Chinese occupation. This is most likely how the Iraqi People now view us. Only we invaded based on perception alone and without any facts. Add in America's reckless quest and lust for more oil, which they possess a lot of, and it is very easy to understand why we are not being welcomed with open arms in Iraq. We have destroyed what peace they had, leading them into turmoil, and trying to steal their oil in the process. Was Saddam a bad leader and cruel to his people? By our standards he absolutely was. But from an Iraqi viewpoint, rule under Saddam was far better than the current situation the United States occupation has brought. So the next time you see angry Iraqi's chanting, "Death To America", ask yourself if you would be chanting, "Death To The Occupation", if the shoe were on the other foot.
