Saturday, July 31st - Once In A Blue Moon... That time would indeed be tonight when the second Full Moon of the month appears in our evening skies... The second moon in any one month is traditionally know as a "Blue Moon"...

Friday, July 30th - Those Lazy Days Of Summer... Late July, known for those lazy days of summer... With our near normal weather, nature has provided a wealth of quiet getaways where one can truly sit back enjoy the beauty of the day... The warm scent of sage and colors of various wildflowers currently abound in the Storm Mountain Area, making this a great time to stop and, "Smell the Roses", as they say...

Wednesday, July 28th - Andrew Romanoff To Speak At Frisbie Fundraiser... Colorado Democratic House Leader, "Andrew Romanoff", is scheduled as the guest speaker at a fundraiser for House District 49 candidate, "Doug Frisbie", this coming Saturday, July 31st... Frisbie has been reported as gaining momentum in his bid to unseat Republican incumbent, "Kevin Lundberg"... The event is being held at a private residence in Estes Park... All are invited to attend... Suggested donations are $60/person, $100/couple... Complete information can be found on the "Larimer Dems" website...

Tuesday, July 27th - SMN Tops 100,000 Hit Mark... Sometime during the late night hours on Monday, Storm Mountain Net surpassed the 100,000 hit mark... Being up and running only slightly over four months, reaching this milestone is both a compliment to the site and it's content, as well as an indicator of the need for a local news outlet... "I want to thank each and every person who patronizes our site", states owner Darrell Spangler, "I would have been pleased if we made the 100,000 hit mark in the first year... Getting there in the first few months is simply amazing to me"... Plans for the future at SMN include paid advertising, new equipment, and the possibility of a print version, all geared toward more in depth reporting and overall better service to our community...

Monday, July 26th - Northern Lights Possible Tonight... Area residents are advised to watch the northern skies both tonight and Tuesday night for possible displays of the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights as they are commonly known... On Sunday, July 25th, a large sunspot erupted hurling two coronal mass ejections (CME's) toward the Earth... These CME's are expected to sweep through our atmosphere during the next two days, setting the stage for possible Auroras... A similar eruption last Friday sparked Auroras this weekend which were reported as far south as Nebraska and Utah... For a gallery of recent photos of these Auroras, follow the link below...
